In the spring of 2025, the Berklee Musical Theater Club (BMTC) mounted its most ambitious production to date, showcasing the club's growth and commitment to excellence in musical theater. As President of the BMTC Board, Cait Steed played a pivotal role in bringing this large-scale musical to life. Cait's responsibilities included:
Coordinating the assembly of an extensive creative team
Facilitating the acquisition of performance rights, serving as the primary liaison between the licensing company and Berklee's Campus Life Office
Securing an appropriate venue for the production
Overseeing the production timeline, including audition deadlines, instrumentalist selections, and rehearsal schedules
Managing the production budget
Ensuring a safe and productive rehearsal process
Coordinating with the venue to maintain compliance with all protocols and guidelines during tech week
Organizing a team of volunteer ushers for the performance weekend
This production marked a significant milestone for BMTC, featuring an expanded set design, intricate props, elaborate costumes, and a larger cast and crew than ever before. The successful execution of this musical demonstrated the club's ability to produce professional-caliber performances and provided valuable experience for all participants in various aspects of theater production.
